Q.U.I.L.T.S. of Schenectady, Inc. meets the first Thursday of every month from September through June. Meetings are held at the Unitarian Society, 1221 Wendell Avenue, Schenectady, NY (Wendell Avenue is between Union Street and Nott Street, the first turn off Nott Street West of Ellis Hospital). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. to allow committees to set up with meetings beginning at 7:00 p.m. and ending about 9:00 p.m. The Hospitality Committee provides refreshments. Meetings usually consist of Show and Tell, announcements, drawings of names for Monthly Quilt Block Challenge winner, Nametag drawing, and Fat Quarter Winner. Visitors are welcome. When speakers are featured during the meeting there is a $5.00 fee for non-members.

At every meeting we share our work with the group. Everyone, member or guest, is invited to show their work. People show finished quilts, quilt tops, quilt blocks, articles of clothing. Please bring your work to show! We all learn from one another, and sometimes the Show and Tell portion of our program is the best part! You’ll be inspired.

Hands All Around is our logo; our nametag is based on that quilt pattern. You may use the enclosed pattern to make a nametag for yourself, or any other pattern or technique you choose. All we ask is that your nametag include your name and the word Q.U.I.L.T.S. and that you wear it at every meeting. We want to know who you are! (As an incentive for wearing name tags, we have a special raffle drawing for members at each meeting, but you may claim your prize only if you’re wearing your name tag.)

At every meeting patterns and fabric are available for our Block of the Month, for $1 or $2. Completed blocks are returned the next month and the maker’s name put into a basket. The winner receives all the blocks--enough for a quilt! This is a great way to learn new techniques.

Our library consists of many books, magazines, videos, stencils and patterns. Membership is required to use the library. Library items may be borrowed for one month at a time. To borrow an item, you must sign the item out and show your membership card. See the Librarian for the correct sign-out procedure. Items are to be returned the following month.
